Hey Guys,

I thought today I would do something I haven’t done in quite some time and something quite frankly I have missed.

I will be doing a review on a movie I recently saw at the Cinema, Paddington.

Carry on reading to find out what I thought of it.

If you read my review last year on the first installment of Paddington, the movie based on the lovely, marmalade eating bear, you will know that it was my favourite movie of 2014 and with good reason.

So when I heard that Paddington was returning to our screens this year, I practically jumped at the chance to see it. I remember running downstairs to show my parents, also fans of the movie, the brand new trailer which had not long been released at the time.

It looked amazing. Obviously this is what I was expecting, and when I heard others raving about it, my excitement levels jumped through the roof.

Now on to the movie itself.

Paddington 2 basically carries on from where we left off previously. He is now living with the Browns on a permanent basis and is growing quite the relationship with the neighbors around him.

When he realises he doesn’t have the money to purchase the perfect gift for his aunt on her birthday, he tries to do all he can to earn it, but when the gift he wants gets taken, Paddington is the one who gets taken into custody, despite being completely innocent.

This movie includes a lot of new faces as well as those familiar ones we fell in love with the first time round, making for a fun roller coaster ride of a journey.

Just like with the first movie, the jokes came in thick and fast with a very interesting and family friendly humor throughout, making it enjoyable for all and not just the kids.

However, unlike the first, this movie emphasised more on the heartfelt moments shared between the characters as opposed to the full on belly laughs we had to face the first time round. It was a totally different experience to say the least.

The dynamic between characters was just amazing and really was enough to make you smile.

In particular, I loved seeing how Paddington interacted with the Brown’s and Mrs Bird in their family environment as well as with his fellow prison inmates. Although different in their own right, helped to make the movie what it was.

I will say though, although I loved this movie, I don’t think it could match the original, but as a sequel truly delivered and an unmissable film for sure.

A must watch for all!

Happy Blogmas,

The Jungle Book (2016) | Movie Review

I literally finished this book last week, so to delve right back into this world so quickly, was awesome as I really got to see how it would adapt to screen…once again. I actually think this was one of the best book to movie adaptions I have seen in a while, and definitely beats the original. I didn’t think it would be possible, but it really did.

This was what I would call a more mature version of this film, and featured a great script full of so much heart and fitted this amazing cast well. The visual effects and the array of camera shots throughout really made this what it was. I was truly impressed. It helped bring forward the main concept for this particular movie, that being the feeling of belonging, and being accepted for what you are.

The characters were brought to life in a way we didn’t get to see before, especially Shere Khan, who was brilliantly voiced by Idris Elba. His low gravelly tone fit this character perfectly, making him a villain you love to hate.

I also felt that Akela, the leader of the wolf pack, was very reminiscent of Aslan from Narnia. I am not sure if anyone will think that once they have seen it, but I found it to be very familiar, but in a good way.

Something I really loved about this was how different Bagheera and Baloo were portrayed in this, than in the first movie, as well as the book. Baloo in particular was shown to be a bit of a hustler, or as Bagheera calls him, a ‘con artist’. However, over the course of the movie, we see how they evolve into the characters that we know and love, including how Baloo’s friendship with Mowgli causes him to change his ways, and finally care for someone other than himself.

If you want action, adventure, and whole lot of bravery, this is just the movie for you. A classic reinvented, and a love that will remain for years to come.

3 Movies I Am Seriously Excited About!

Hey Guys,

We are now in June, meaning we are 6 months into 2016, and already in the Summer months. It’s crazy. Where has the time gone? So far this year, we have had some brilliant movies come out, including my favourite so far, Zootopia.

This made me wonder about the next half of the year in film and what we have to look forward to. Is there anything worth watching? The simple answer, yes! Keep reading, and hopefully you will have 3 new, upcoming movies, to add to your list.

Finding Dory

The forgetful but truly lovable Dory returns for another adventure, but this time, it’s not Nemo who needs finding. It’s Dory.

This movie has been on my mind since Ellen announced it on her show a few years back. It has been a long wait, but thankfully, there isn’t much time left to wait before we get to be reunited with one of the most iconic characters of the 00s.

If you haven’t seen the first movie, Finding Nemo, you better catch up soon, because this is released June 17th.

Doctor Strange

An arrogant ex surgeon, gets a new start when he is given the chance to train with a sorcerer, which he will then hopefully use to save the world against evil.

I haven’t heard too much about this so far, but do I know that the trailer looks amazing, the cast is practically perfect, and it is from the minds of Marvel. Basically, those are what you need for a success in the box office, and something which will be an instant hit with the public. I can’t wait!

Doctor Strange is set for release November 4th.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Rebellion soldier, Jyn Erso is given the dangerous mission to steal the plans for the Death Star, along with only a few others available to help.

Ia absolutely love Star Wars, and I know a lot of you do too! I just find the action and the adventure to be so thrilling and exciting, and the story lines, to be so well thought out, apart from episode 1, 2 and 3 obviously, but let’s just forget they exist. The characters, and the way they all fit together in the way they do, just adds something really special to the movies.

Now this isn’t part of the main story you have been following, but it does have many familiar elements that will certainly comply with the worlds you have seen before. It will definitely be a great distraction for anyone who is seriously waiting on episode 8. At least this will tide me over until then.

Rogue One comes out December 16th. Now that is a long wait!

What movies are you excited about? What has been your favourite so far this year?

We All Need A Hero! I Know I do!

Hey Guys,

We all love Superhero movies! Who doesn’t? They are filled to the brim with action and adventure, Heroism and honor. There is just something about them that makes you want more and that is probably why at the moment they are some of the biggest movies around. However, along with this success will come many superhero movies, all of which will follow in the footsteps of those before it, meaning we will have seen many cliche ideas, so here are just five of them.

The Cape Is Everything:

Now I am aware that this isn’t in every single superhero movie, but if you look back at all of the classics, they all had a cape, and obviously, Batman and Superman would be nowhere without theirs.

The Science Experiment That Went Wrong:

Ladies and Gentleman I give you the Hulk. Not only was he himself made from a failed experiment, but Dr. Bruce Banner and Tony Stark accidently managed to make the villain from Age Of Ultron, with the work they were doing. Oops!

Not All Superheroes Actually Have Powers. Some Are Just Super Rich:

The two that come to mind straight away are Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, and Tony Stark who we all know to be the infamously arrogant but lovable Iron Man. If it wasn’t for the money they had, would they have been as effective?

The Traumatic Experience Which Makes Them Want Revenge:

Superhero’s are known for remaining cool, right? Nope! A lot of them are easily swayed by the idea of revenge when they see something happen to someone they love. They always make up for it in the end though. Well, that is the idea anyway.

The Significant Other That Always Ends Up In Trouble:

Every time! This one is slightly overused, well very overused. Why do they always have to be shown as weak? I know the villains do this to spark something from the hero, but still, can’t there be another way. At least once. Please Marvel (and DC) be a little different for once.
