3 Movies I Am Seriously Excited About!

Hey Guys,

We are now in June, meaning we are 6 months into 2016, and already in the Summer months. It’s crazy. Where has the time gone? So far this year, we have had some brilliant movies come out, including my favourite so far, Zootopia.

This made me wonder about the next half of the year in film and what we have to look forward to. Is there anything worth watching? The simple answer, yes! Keep reading, and hopefully you will have 3 new, upcoming movies, to add to your list.

Finding Dory

The forgetful but truly lovable Dory returns for another adventure, but this time, it’s not Nemo who needs finding. It’s Dory.

This movie has been on my mind since Ellen announced it on her show a few years back. It has been a long wait, but thankfully, there isn’t much time left to wait before we get to be reunited with one of the most iconic characters of the 00s.

If you haven’t seen the first movie, Finding Nemo, you better catch up soon, because this is released June 17th.

Doctor Strange

An arrogant ex surgeon, gets a new start when he is given the chance to train with a sorcerer, which he will then hopefully use to save the world against evil.

I haven’t heard too much about this so far, but do I know that the trailer looks amazing, the cast is practically perfect, and it is from the minds of Marvel. Basically, those are what you need for a success in the box office, and something which will be an instant hit with the public. I can’t wait!

Doctor Strange is set for release November 4th.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Rebellion soldier, Jyn Erso is given the dangerous mission to steal the plans for the Death Star, along with only a few others available to help.

Ia absolutely love Star Wars, and I know a lot of you do too! I just find the action and the adventure to be so thrilling and exciting, and the story lines, to be so well thought out, apart from episode 1, 2 and 3 obviously, but let’s just forget they exist. The characters, and the way they all fit together in the way they do, just adds something really special to the movies.

Now this isn’t part of the main story you have been following, but it does have many familiar elements that will certainly comply with the worlds you have seen before. It will definitely be a great distraction for anyone who is seriously waiting on episode 8. At least this will tide me over until then.

Rogue One comes out December 16th. Now that is a long wait!

What movies are you excited about? What has been your favourite so far this year?

5 Facts About Disney’s Zootopia You Need To Know!

Hey Guys,

I did this once before with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, quite a while ago now, where I told you 5 facts that you may not have known about the movie (you can check that out here). It went down quite well, so I thought let’s do it again, but this time, for the movie that has taken 2016 by storm, Zootopia.

1) Disney Pays Homage To Frozen

Over the last few years, Frozen has become the biggest hit for Disney Pixar, making it a franchise people love and adore, so it only makes sense that Disney would want to honor its success in any way possible, and Zootopia is no exception.

Two Elephants dressed as Anna and Elsa make a quick cameo that you could very easily miss if you are not paying full attention.

Oh and did you know that Kristen Bell, the actress who voices Anna, plays a Sloth in this movie, which incidentally was inspired by an interview Bell had on the Ellen Show. Ellen helps everyone!

2) Nick Wilde Was Originally The Protagonist

One of Zootopias directors, Byron Howard had the idea to have Nick as the protagonist rather than Judy, but changed it only a year before it was meant to be released. Apparently Judy’s personality made a better fit for her to become the main protagonist within the film rather than Nick.

If you take a close look at Nick throughout the movie, you will be able to see that he resembles Robin Hood, from the Disney classic, Robin Hood. Coincidence? I think not!

3) Mufasa Is Back… Sort Of

Mayor Lionheart, the brave and almighty lion who looks over the proceedings of Zootopia, was inspired by the much loved Mufasa from the Lion King. I think it is safe to say, we will always love Mufasa more though.

4) The Newscaster Changes

Did you know that dependent upon where you live in the world, the animal playing the newscaster will change? For example if you live in the US or Canada it will be a Moose, for the UK it is a Corgi, a Panda for China, a Koala for Australia, etc. Basically just the animals we automatically associate with these countries.

5) Fancy A Bit Of Breaking Bad?

In the scene featuring the ‘Night Howler’ in the lab, two rams deliver coffee to the lab. Their names are Walter and Jesse which is a reference to two of the leading characters from the hit show, Breaking Bad.

If I Stay Review | Movie Monday

https://i1.wp.com/www.penguin.com/static/pages/youngreaders/images/featuresbanner/banner_if_i_stay_movie_tie_in.jpg

If I stay follows Mia (Chloe Grace Moretz) a High School student who, along with her parents and younger brother, get caught in a horrific car accident leaving her in a coma, but still able to see everything that is going on around her, as well as the family and friends that come to visit whilst she is in hospital.

This heart wrenching movie has such a strong concept which is portrayed well throughout as well as remaining consistent as the story goes on. With a main character and relationship that you can’t help but root for from the very beginning.

A theme which is at the forefront of this film, is the idea of standing out, and not being afraid of being who you truly are. We see this through the flashbacks that occur at almost every scene, which in turn tell a story of Mia’s life before the crash, where we see her as a classical musician, but whose family are into music which is a little heavier, leaving her feeling like an outcast. However, we find that her family and boyfriend, Adam, love her regardless, probably more so, for being different.

I think this is an important message to send out, especially to a younger audience, who think that they need to change to fit in, when really, it makes them more susceptible to self loathing later on. Everyone is different, so we should celebrate that, and help people love their individuality, and thankfully, this movie helps to see that.

The romance between Mia and Adam plays a major role to the story line, as we get to witness how she slowly gets brought out of her comfort zone, to become something we didn’t see in the beginning. The development for the character of Mia was done so well, and most of this was thanks to their relationship.

Adam was very surprising to me, as I didn’t expect him to be the way he was, but you can really tell he cares about Mia, especially when he joins her bedside at the hospital. This was one of the best scenes in the entire movie, and where you truly see their love for each other as something more than childish, but true in a way. He is even open to letting her go, which is definitely a touching moment, and one that shows Adam’s character development.

A special movie about the bond between family, as well as the importance of loving every moment as though it were your last. This is definitely a movie for those who are looking for something to make even your heart cry (great picture made for you there) as well as something to make you think. Such an amazing adaption of a book I love and hold dearly.

Fantasy Is Our New Reality!

Hey Guys,

Are you fans of Fantasy movies? Let’s face it, have you seen Harry Potter or Lord Of The Rings, because that is probably the reason most people love that genre? If you said yes to one or both of these questions, then maybe you have noticed the following cliches. To be honest, if you have read books in the Fantasy genre, you will have noticed them also.

The Prophecy That Binds Them

Way before the protagonists are born, there is usually something set in stone, sometimes literally, that will indicate that they are to go on to defeat a higher and darker power, or something along those lines.

You Are The Chosen One

For most of the main characters, their lives growing up were difficult and like torture, so of all people, they are the least likely to be special, right? Wrong! They are the ones that always get told they are have a certain power or will defeat evil. Oh and obviously everyone is special.

Anyway, even if you are the ‘Chosen one’, you need your friends on your side, to bring you back down to reality, like Hermione is doing here.

Good Must Face Evil

The lead up to the final battle could easily take up until the very last movie. That is usually how it will play out, and you know evil will be defeated, but you still manage to get taken back by what happens to to your favourite characters throughout these scenes. We all know how it ends. Good will always prevail!

English Accents Are Key

Who doesn’t love a good English accent? I know I do, when it’s not mine that is. However, I am unsure as to why that is the only accent that they actually go with, especially for those who are gifted with being wise.

The Wise One

Everyone knows, or should know, that these stories wouldn’t be complete without the likes of Dumbledore, and Gandalf for example. They add something special to the movies, as well as giving hope and strength to the main characters when they need it most.
