Funny, cool, fully illustrated and totally readable, this book is the ultimate must-have for fans of Marcus Butler.’

Marcus Butler, is a British YouTuber who most people love, so when I finally heard that the book was coming out, I was so excited. Thankfully, my mom ended up winning a signed copy of the book which I would say is seriously AWESOME! I even ended up reading the whole book in just over a day.

This was last year by the way.

Anyway, from this book you see Marcus has such a vast and astounding knowledge on varying subjects and I really had no idea that he had been through as much as he had. Some people give advice without actually knowing anything about what another person is feeling or going through, but he really does, and because of this, I really felt like I needed to take on board what he was saying.

This book was full of so much insight and ideas on how to live your best life today and be the best you can be. I felt really inspired and actually left the book wanting to change myself and adapt in order to reach my full potential.

He even makes you feel as though you are not alone, as he along with many others have surely felt a similar way or exactly the same as you have. It was comforting and put me at ease, more so than I have been before. Probably one of the main reasons I loved it as much as I actually did.

The final chapters look into his success, as well as how he thinks we can turn things around or work harder in order for us to do the same, in which ever things we choose. The step to step guides within each chapter help to break things down and make it easier to see how each individual goal can actually be reached.

It is a book for everyone who has ever felt anything ever. He is one YouTuber whose book I definitely think is worth picking up and reading.

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell | Book Review

17322949Title: Eleanor And Park

Author: Rainbow Rowell

Publisher: Orion

‘Eleanor is the new girl in town, and with her chaotic family life, her mismatched clothes and unruly red hair, she couldn’t stick out more if she tried.

Park is the boy at the back of the bus. Black T-shirts, headphones, head in a book – he thinks he’s made himself invisible. But not to Eleanor… never to Eleanor.

Slowly, steadily, through late-night conversations and an ever-growing stack of mix tapes, Eleanor and Park fall for each other. They fall in love the way you do the first time, when you’re young, and you feel as if you have nothing and everything to lose.’

Two words for you, amazingly beautiful! In fact, probably one of the best books I have read in the last few years. Oh and that cover. Isn’t it just absolutely stunning?

Rowell has such a unique style of writing which compliments the voices of the main characters, Eleanor and park, in such a way that you feel so involved with the story that is being built around them. It allows for both of their personalities to shine, and characteristics to be developed so well throughout the course of the book.

She manages to bring to life a new kind of love story, one which personally I think is more relatable than what some other books, as well as movies and TV have done in the past. Falling in love doesn’t consist of accidentally bumping into someone a bookstore perhaps, and knowing straight away that they are the one for you. NO! Just no! Real love takes time and effort to build into what it is. In this case it goes from hate to friendship, and then into love.

Something I love is that they are not exactly the archetypal romantic duo that you would usually see. In fact, they seem to be on the completely opposite ends of the spectrum with who they are. They are so imperfect, that it just seems to work. If these are the characters Rowell creates for this, then what are her other characters from other books like? I can’t wait to find out, especially now that I am getting excited to read Fangirl, the book that has been on my shelf for quite some time now. Bring it on!

The only problem I really had with this, was actually getting into the story in the first place. The beginning in particular was so slow to get through, and dragged, that I found it difficult to get into. If you have read it, you may know what I am talking about, but you will also be able to agree that once you do get into it, it is AMAZING!

My Summer Reads 2016

My Summer Reads

Summer is finally here, and although I am in the UK, the country which never quite understands what that word means, it actually feels like Summer, with the heat getting the upper hand already.

At least if it gets too hot, I can always run to my room and read. Saying that though, I probably won’t get to read as much as I normally would, especially not now because tomorrow I am beginning my first day of volunteering at the Cafe in my town. I am terrified but at the same time excited.

That is why I thought I would plan five books that I will definitely read this Summer, whether this month, or next month. Perhaps I will even take one or two of them on holiday with me in August. Who knows?

Your Fears Can Hold You Back

29910648 Title: Love and Other Man-Made Disasters

Author: Nicola Doherty

Publisher: Hachette Children’s Group

Juno is scared of a lot of things. Climate change, urban foxes, zombies – the usual. So when she goes on a skiing holiday with her mum’s adrenaline-mad new husband and his tearaway twins, she doesn’t hold much hope of surviving. Then she meets Boy. Gruff, hairy and thrill-seeking, he’s everything Juno doesn’t like. Or is he? Juno’s about to discover there’s nothing more scary than falling in love.’

Review:

Firstly, I would like to thank the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this book for them.

When I first started this book, I felt a bit weird, nostalgic if you will, but I will just stick with weird. This was mainly because a lot of what was happening, had happened to me before. They go on a skiing trip to Austria for a week during Easter. So did I, a few years back. Juno, the main character, finds the bad in everything, and was terrible at skiing for the entire first day. So was I. Oh and she is seventeen and enjoys Horrible Histories. So did I (I still do). I can’t remember the last time I came across a book so reminiscent of that of my own life.

The one thing that didn’t happen to me though, was getting involved with a skiing instructor like Juno does. How that is not on her list of things to be worried about, I don’t know.

Talking about this romance between Juno and Boy (it’s a nickname), it was very sweet, but I felt it to be slightly rushed. One minute they seem annoyed with each other (mainly Boy with Juno) and the next, they have fallen for one another. Oh and then back to annoyance, and then of course back together again. This sudden roller coaster ride of emotion takes place over the course of about two weeks. In a way, I get that there can be a sudden attraction, but with what happens between these two in particular, it seems a bit too quick.

Something I did enjoy, was how Juno manages to gain a new outlook on life, from constantly worrying over the little things, to realising that she will never get to where she wants to be, or have the life she wants, until she steps out of her comfort zone and finally faces her fears. This is such a great concept to include into the book, as it is a life lesson that everyone needs to realise and learn, just like me, especially recently. I was never one for facing my fears due to anxiety, but lately I have taken myself out of where I feel most comfortable, and am now challenging myself, and I have never felt more proud or happier. Once again, I find myself being able to identify with Juno.

A book for fans of cute romances, as well as thrill seekers who want more out of life than they already have.
